Eddie Redmayne thinks Benedict Cumberbatch and himself have “blagged” their acting careers.
The 33-year-old star made the comment when asked if he’s in competition with the ‘Sherlock’ actor after he beat him to Best Actor at this year’s Oscars and Golden Globe Awards.
Discussing their relationship, he said: “It’s not a rivalry, no, I just … adore him. And he couldn’t have been more lovely. So kind. He’s staggeringly talented. For both of us though, that whole ride, we were just pinching ourselves, going, ‘Can you believe we’ve blagged it?’ ”
Elsewhere, Redmayne has admitted challenging role in ‘The Danish Girl’, as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe, left him feeling “vulnerable”.
The actor - who is up for the Best Actor SAG Award for his performance - said: “It leaves you feeling very exposed and vulnerable. The set itself felt very safe when I would be walking around as Lili but there was still this sense of people watching you and feeling judged.
“Imagine what it must be like for trans women who are constantly facing such judgment as well as discrimination and violence in many cases.”
And one particular nude scene was really “embarrassing” for the star.
He said: “Any time you get naked in front of a crew, it’s embarrassing.”
In it, the handsome star had to peel off his trousers and tuck his manhood through his legs.
He explained: “It’s not as if we as actors have some way of becoming comfortable with it. It would be exactly like you getting naked in front of 30 people. [Source]
